Also, there is more than one way to enjoy streaming and find new artists, and it doesn’t require paying monthly dues to a multinational corporation which CLEARLY doesn’t share my values.

I realized my partner and I have over 120GB of music we never listen to, so we set up a home server on Plex instead, using an old MacBook to host it. So many good songs and artists to remember and explore, and no algorithm pushing AI slop my way.

I cancelled my Spotify membership. It’s been coming for a long time but considering their broad use of generative AI to push out actual artists, promoting men like Joe Rogan and Andrew Tate, and firing humans who made the product great to give their CEO more $, they are dead to me.

Seems to me some execs were just waiting for AI tools to give them the answers they want instead of having to coerce their human reports into doing so.
