And I think we can safely say that neither of these men—both with credible sex assault allegations against them, one a habitual drunk and the other an adulterous pedo protector—can be called “mentally awake” or “morally straight.”

Govt resources are nice. Obeying the Oath, Law and Motto are nicer.

Neither Hegseth nor Trump is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, cheerful, thrifty, brave, or clean. Hegseth’s sycophancy and overt Christian nationalism might count as “obedient” and “reverent,” but that’s a stretch.

They damn sure don’t help other people at all times.

I say this with my whole chest as an Eagle Scout:

If Scouting America wants to do its best to do its duty to God and our country, then the Scouts should run screaming from Pete Hegseth’s Department of Defense and this entire gang of Trump’s fascist fuckwits.

One thing that Braves fandom has always enjoyed is that, unless you’re John Rocker,* it’s almost impossible to be excommunicated if you’ve ever worn the uniform.

TPUSA’s audience might be the only crowd Bob Dylan would have more obvious contempt for than one that paid to see him perform.

The pushback will be magnificent. Opera lovers firebombing bulldozers. Musical fans shouting “give me a position show me where the ammunition is.” Staffers sneaking JFK’s giant head out through the parking garage under the cover of night.

Lol, Philip Glass cancels a performance and this fragile little bitch decides to try to close down the venue.

Now watch desperate little Ric Grenell—who will do ANYTHING to get a bigger appointment in this administration—try to spin this as good, actually.

Liam Conejo Ramos got me thinking about Elián González, and I noticed something for the first time:

I really just miss having a federal government that isn’t completely dominated by a malicious combination of assholes and morons.

And my philosophy is, once you’re confident you have a spot on the list, it’s your duty to earn it over and over, every chance you can.

(I think I’m an amicus in probably another dozen or so cases against the administration, from mifepristone access to sanctuary cities to DOT grants.)

To be a conspiracy against rights, the conspirators must “conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate.”

The indictment reads more like they conspired to be loud (or, in Lemon’s case, to report on people being loud), while also being Black.

My civil rights atty/fmr defense atty take: The facts as stated in the indictment *maybe* get to the level of a conspiracy to disturb the peace. Charging this as a conspiracy against rights—especially in Don Lemon’s case—is, like Harmeet Dhillon, a total joke. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

Two questions (I don’t do tons of federal civil work): (1) Who’s going to assert that as a defense? (2) What stops Bessent from just “settling” the litigation?

“Don’t give so much goddamn money to goddamn murderers” is now the bipartisan consensus position in the Senate.

Or that Harmeet Dillon was the first to volunteer her now-depleted and discredited division to come up with a way to exonerate the murderers.

“Got those giant banners of Trump on federal buildings?”
“Yep.”
“Secret prisons for minorities and dissenters?”
“You bet.”
“Masked federal death squads roaming the streets?”
“Of course.”
“Illegal military strikes?”
“Mmm hm.”
(Pauses)

“Have we arrested any reporters lately?”
“…Could always do more.”

I feel you. I think jt’s the deep, well-founded fear that snapshot-in-time metrics will be used to ignore or undermine the only morally responsible policy actions that we must take and promote regardless of what any fucking poll says.

I’m shocked that he didn’t behave like Gandhi after the Renee Good murder! That’s the least we should expect from people living in an occupied city watching masked federal good squads kidnapping their neighbors off the street.

When ICE was formed, there was an okay compromise immigration reform bill that had buy-in from Ted Kennedy to George W Bush. Millions of us marched in support of it.

Dennis Hastert killed it because the proto-MAGA wing of the House GOP couldn’t stand not being The Worst for ten damn seconds.
