again i am perfectly fine with locking every one of Jeffrey Epstein's friends in prison, Democrat, Republican or Whatever.

The Epstein stuff is always so amazing to me because it's like "yes he was a sex criminal but if you can get past that, he was also an avowed eugenicist"

A couple years ago, I drank a glass of cold brew concentrate thinking it was regular cold brew. Been chasing that feeling ever since.

WWE is a microcosm of American politics. Power in the hands of a few who are only concerned w/ power & enriching their ilk. Prices are unaffordable. The product is old & boring. Voices of dissent are silenced. Scandals are pushed aside in the hopes they are forgotten when just enough is given.

Back in August, my son broke both of his arms. He’s healed now, but we’re still receiving medical bills. We’ve paid over $10k out of pocket & we have insurance. My partner just received a $700 bill for a breast exam. I can’t schedule a well visit with my doctor until February. Great system we have.

Do you ever think about the amount of work & all of the people that came before in order to do any task? We exist in communities and never do anything alone. We’re fed this narrative of rugged individualism but that’s an affront to all those who put in work before us.

Universal child care can hurt children in The Economist

Universal child care can hurt children in The Economist

This article meanders around the obvious point - FUND PROGRAMS PROPERLY. Whether it is universal childcare or paying parents to stay home, or shifting to working from home if possible, the amount of money put towards these programs needs to be consistent & enough. High quality care needs funding.

There’s definitely a subconscious reason I haven’t gone back to order this. The heartburn has been seared into the deep recesses of my brain.

I run a small business that’s been operating since 1949. A dude called today & said he hadn’t shopped with us since 1997, the year his mom died. He became unreasonably upset about changes we’ve made in past 30 or so years. “I don’t understand why you’ve changed so much,” and then he hung up on me.

In honor of National Sandwich Day, the Pastrami Reuben from Oak Parker in Oak Park, MI. An excellent sandwich from a consistently great restaurant. They make their pastrami in house. I adore the thick slices.

If you have a favorite coffee mug and you drink coffee out of any other mug, the coffee doesn’t hit the same. It’s just science.

Proof that the U.S. government social media accounts are in fact white nationalist propaganda accounts, funded by our tax dollars.

Not sure where all of the emotion policing came from but it’s not ideal to tell anyone how they should feel about anything, especially when your lived experience seems to only include life through the lens of the Reagan administration.

Why do conservatives feel the need to tell me how to feel when I’m talking passionately? Had a person just tell me that I’m “way too angry,” and that I should feel better because things aren’t that bad. He also told me if I didn’t like it here, to pick up and leave. Cool argument, bro.

On the topic of work involved in food manufacturing, here’s a short video of our beef & onion sausage rolls. The video doesn’t show that we make, roll, & cut the puff pastry (with a dough sheeter), mix the meat mixture, etc.

I operate a small bakery that specializes in incredibly labor intensive traditional Scottish food. Our prices are often derided as “too expensive.” We happily share our recipes (along with the work involved). Every time the response is “oh, that’s a lot of work. We will keep buying from you.”

Loui’s Special: grilled cheese on Texas Toast with steak & special sauce

Loui’s Pizza is a metro Detroit institution. Their Detroit style pizza is among the best around, but their entire menu is fantastic. The Loui’s Special is especially unique. It’s a steak filled grilled cheese with a special sauce that is BBQ sauce adjacent - spicy, sweet, & savory.

I grew up eating Middle Eastern food. My father owned a Middle Eastern deli so I had an opinion on how certain dishes *should* taste because I was tasting all of the time. Once I started going to other places, I was thrilled to learn how much variation each dish could have.

I’ve done some social media work for indy promotions and the champions never leave with the belts. It’s usually the promoter who leaves with it. Moné has possession of all of them, so I wonder if she has replicas? That’s not a huge budgetary issue given the notoriety she currently has.

“We can’t see value, but we can see price.” Heard this while listening to an analysis of Marx’s Capital. It’s endlessly fascinating running a very labor intensive food business where the most common compliant is that we charge too much. They can only see price, not the value we provide.
