in light of today's events, i want to share a story i was told during a study abroad summer in italy, where i took a class on the rise of fascism.

I’m no longer certain how I fed myself before this man started cooking for me 😂

A few weeks ago I tried to give my chef husband a break from cooking and he had to rescue me because I dropped the absorbent pad from the meat package INTO the hot stir fry pan and it seared straight on and left bits of fuzz all over the meat I was trying to cook.

Watching this scene I actually said out loud to my husband, “wow, THAT was lucky… oh right, it’s Mat” 😂

Just wanna expand this a bit because so many hashtag resisters respond to any pushback on language (ableist, homophobic, racist, etc.) with hostility disguised as tactical savvy: "MAGA uses these words but you want us to fight with our hands tied?"

Bunch people accused me of misinformation saying they’re targeting the disease not the people with the disease.

I’d like to ask: you think autism and ADHD and neurodivergence is a disease? And why exactly (and how exactly) do you think it’s ok to reduce the number of people with these conditions?

For this sandwich I compromised by adding a second layer of jam rather than making a whole new one. He’s actually enjoying it now that he’s calmed down, except that he doesn’t know how to deal with the extra jam oozing out 😂

As a side note I do believe in offering my kids alternative meals when they’re not into what I’ve made, but I draw the line at them requesting a specific food and then rejecting it once it’s made. Sorry kiddos, groceries are getting too expensive for that!

I'm sorry, but "they took over the whole federal payments system, fired the career staff, and won't let anybody see what they're doing" is not a situation in which you wait for more information. It's a situation in which you assume the worst. There's no explanation for it other than rampant crimes.

In retrospect I’m fortunate that having small children who demand my attention first thing in the morning has stopped me from trying those pages for years now 😂

I forget what she called the part where you write down your negative thoughts about yourself before trying to turn them positive, but that part wrecked me. I hadn’t known I thought some of those things beforehand, and afterwards I definitely did not believe the positive reversal.

And I felt like it was my personal failing that I could no longer use the book to “recover” anything! I tried to go through and ignore the religious part, but morning pages stopped me every time.

This is really validating. In college when I was still religious I did get something out of her program (although even then the morning pages were the hardest part, taking forever and full of self-loathing). When I tried it again several years later I bounced straight off all of the spiritual stuff.
