Trump’s tariffs are pushing Canada closer to China and India
Prime Minister Mark Carney has promised to double non-U.S. exports by 2035. That means making up with two of Canada’s greatest adversaries.
The week after an anti-tariff ad pushed President Trump to halt trade talks with Canada, Prime Minister Mark Carney met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
It was the first meeting between a Canadian prime minister and Chinese president since 2017.

Senate votes to quash Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ global tariffs
The bipartisan move is symbolic, as the House has passed a rule against legislation to block tariffs this year.
The Senate on Thursday voted 51-47 to eliminate the national emergency underpinning President Trump’s global tariffs — its third rebuke of his trade policy this week, after bipartisan votes to roll back duties on goods from Canada and Brazil.

Lumber Prices Are Flashing a Warning Sign for the U.S. Economy
Wood prices are sliding and mills are cutting back because of uncertainty over tariffs and a building slump.
Lumber prices are falling—due to deteriorating housing demand and tariff uncertainty—and that’s sounding an alarm on Wall Street about potential Main Street problems.

When a tariff deal is implemented, the details have to be released so that the appropriate tariffs are charged. If they aren't released, the Vietnam deal might have been fun to negotiate, but it has no impact on tariff levels.
(The China export control deal may remain secret though)

Trump declares flawless victory in pointless trade war
Keep pulling the fire alarm, eventually no one will pay attention to the noise.
I love that journalists have caught on that the Trumpian tariff threats are nothing but a mob-style shakedown. And, as Liz Dye says, he got rolled.
