If the player isn't choosing what to deal with first, don't feek responsible for anything, and don't feel any gain or loss expressable directly in game terms irrespective of asset design, you have a tech demo or an asset viewer, not a game.

If you are having trouble making players play the way you want, make scoring matter. Talk about pathing in level design. Think about routing through entity distributions.

If a game designer says "what do you mean by scoring?" or "we don't want a scoring system", fire them on the spot.

Scoring exists in almost every game in some form.

It might not be a number in the corner, but it is how players acrue vaue thru actions you want to herd them toward.
