Basically, this is why you should always buy independent if you can. Or at least from a tax-paying seller.

The Idiot Brain is an Amazon bestseller again, after TEN WHOLE YEARS!
Ironically, I suspect this is because of my (seemingly successful) efforts to promote the 10 year anniversary edition, which Amazon have listed as more expensive, and out of stock. Great work, Jeff.

I was actually on Claudia Winkleman's Radio 2 show once, talking about my cat's latest antics. I agreed on the proviso that I could plug my books, but was cut off before I got the chance.
Not long after, she hosted a certain TV show called 'The Traitors'.
COINCIDENCE?? I THINK NOT!

I don't know, she sounds like she's got a lot of things figured out.

Or he used that cat wormhole network I'm like 80% sure is real thing, given some of the remote places he's inexplicably ended up in.

Reform are a genuinely anti-establishment party in the same way that Hannibal Lecter wearing a prison guard's flayed face was genuinely a prison guard

Right? If you're hoping for a protagonist I will immediately root for... big swing and a miss.

Is there a reason that seemingly all the big mobile games are themed around medieval royalty? I'm guessing there is one, but I lack the insight to figure out what it may be.
Yeah, I'd probably have a lot of resentment about that too.
I could be totally wrong about all of this, it's hardly robust evidence. But if even half of what Brooklyn Beckham has said is true I wish him good luck.
14/14
But suffice to say, if when I was seventeen, one of my parents took a passing interest of mine and, taking advantage of my youthful naivety, exploited it in a manner that turned me into a global laughing stock, something I'm still being ridiculed for almost a full decade later?
13/14
Again, I don't know Brooklyn Beckham. He may be the biggest arse you could ever hope to (not) encounter.
12/14
It's a time of significant personal growth, confusion and turmoil as we try to figure out what sort of individual we're going to be. It's an evolved response to dealing with life *away from our parents' influence*.
11/14
Not old enough to vote. And typically not old enough to sign legal documents without parental involvement.
I shudder to think of some of the ridiculous stuff I came up with and did when I was seventeen.
10/14
Given recent events, I'd argue that, rather than entitled and lazy, argue his whole approach to the book is more indicative of someone who did not and does not want this to be happening, and doesn't understand why it is.
Combine this with the fact that he was SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD at the time.
9/14
Apparently he said he 'kind of liked' photography, when pushed about things he was interested in, and the next thing he knew, he was being presented with a publication contract.
8/14
However, for all the details (and gossip) I've heard about the affair, at no point has anyone ever claimed that Brooklyn Beckham actually *wanted* to do a book, photography or otherwise.
7/14
But the ridiculously pampered Brooklyn couldn't even put the effort in to meet anyone half way, or even quarter way. So 'his' book became an undeniable disaster.
6/14
About how his mother was the one responsible for getting it over the finish line, how she had to negotiate the deal in the first place, in what was perceived as a well-meant (but obscenely privileged and ultimately-misguided) effort to do right by her son, to give him something all his own.
5/14
The tales I heard of how the book came about would support this. Of how Brooklyn put zero effort into the book, about how even getting him to write the very brief picture captions took months of cajoling (and they still turned out not great)
4/14
I've seen countless people reference it this very week, regarding the current media furore. And, in fairness, that's understandable. It was a woefully terrible book, which just screamed 'vanity project from an untalented but entitled nepo baby'.
3/14
A few years back, I was speaking to someone in the publishing industry who was, through no fault of their own, caught up in the publication of Brooklyn Beckham's disastrous photography book.
As we know, that book was flopped hard, and was ridiculed mercilessly.

R.E. the Brooklyn Beckham drama.
I don't know the Beckhams, or what goes on behind the scenes. But I can share this.
