Following illegal orders is illegal, but that only matters in a world of truth and accountability. I hope yesterday's election outcomes remind ICE agents and other Trump enablers that accountability is coming.

Hey creatives: I need a montage of Trump's 60 minutes quote saying ICE isn't violent enough repeating on loop against a backdrop of the ever-increasing video evidence of ICE violence. Please and thank you.

It's not that people are convinced your policies won't work. Rather, (rich) people are afraid they might work.

My mom has been doing this for years in her community, and I finally got to join her on my recent visit back home. It was humbling to help, and also heartbreaking to see so much need. First time visits are up at the same time as donations are down. Keep up the great work!

Maybe someone smarter than me can explain this: how the heck is the national AVERAGE price of a dozen eggs $1.33, but the lowest prices by state is $6.79 in SD!? And where can I find these mystical $1.33/dz eggs?

in light of the kimmel news, just a reminder that a few days ago a prominent fox news host literally called for killing homeless people. right afterward, someone shot up a couple homeless encampments.
that fox news host still has his job.

It Can't Happen Here, written by Sinclair Lewis in 1935
First published in 1935, when Americans were still largely oblivious to the rise of Hitler in Europe, this prescient novel tells a cautionary tale about the fragility of democracy and offers an alarming, eerily timeless look at how fascism could take hold in America.
Foremost Jessup, a newspaper editor, is dismayed to find that many people he knows support presidential candidate Berzilius Windrip. The suspiciously fascist Windrip is offering to save the nation from sex crime, welfare cheats, and a liberal press.
But after Windrip wins the election, dissent soon becomes dangerous for Jessup. Windrip forcibly gains control of Congress and the Supreme Court and, with the aid of his personal paramilitary storm troopers, turns the United States into a totalitarian state.
A suggestion for your next book club pick, especially if you are in a red state. Should be a spicy discussion.

The gut punch is knowing that every outcome will be claimed as a MAGA win. If no new drugs are discovered, they will claim that it is proof that ALL funding is wasted, leading to more cuts. If drugs ARE invented, it will be proof that the cuts were necessary, leading to more cuts.

Sadly, I do not expect that Trump dragging the US into war would lose him many supporters. They are in too deep to turn back now. They will appreciate the distraction and somehow Blame Biden.

Federal workers spoke to reporters after DOGE fired them. Now they face investigation.
At least half a dozen USAID employees are facing threats of "disciplinary action" for speaking to reporters after they thought they had been fired.

A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI
Must read: Nexus by Yuval Noah Harari. It provides great perspective on the role of information tech in shaping political movements.
TLDR: I'm scared for the US. Elon's centralization of citizen's private data and unsupervised insertion of AI code is beyond alarming.
