Bike lanes, well-lit crosswalks, and slower speeds are basically the same as airbags, anti-lock brakes, and stability control for cars. When it comes to cars, you can't sell them without these safety features in 2025. And yet.

A few days ago a Tesla pulled away from the curb about half a block in front of me (on bike) and then very slowly crept down the street. Driver was kind of hunched over, and as I overtook I glanced inside to see him messing around with the touchscreen.

the synergy between bikes and trains isn't talked about or lauded enough. there's nothing like stepping off the train on to the platform, grabbing your bike from the luggage car, and pedaling off into a new city or neighborhood and I hope more people in the US get to experience it

Folding bikes open up so many options for getting places. A couple years some free time opened up where I could go hang out with family and it was similar priced to buy a folding bike and bus tickets than to rent a car for a week at the last minute. I've used the folding bike quite a bit since.
