Lion Nebula is extremely faint, so much so that I wasn’t sure I was even going to be able to capture it. My patience paid off and I’m so excited to share this photo with you all.

This faint emission nebula, lying about 10,000 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus, glows as young, massive stars pump out radiation that energizes the surrounding hydrogen (red) and oxygen (blue). The result is a cosmic lion sculpted in gas and dust.

After nearly a month under the stars and 46 hours of exposure, here’s my final image of the Lion Nebula (Sh2-132).

What a twist this would be!
