If New York State won't do it. NYC should leverage city resources (including the NYPD) to implement something as effectively close to this as possible and dare the state government to raise legal challenges against the city over it.

It would be political suicide for the state to intervene.

What's the federal gov't going to do? Threaten to revoke funding? Threaten to send in the national guard? 🙄

Take it further and extend the self-defense elucidation to include anyone defending anyone else from ICE anywhere within the city limits of NYC.

New York State should replicate Texas SB 8 and pass a law de facto banning ICE within state borders via a lavish bounty awarded to citizens who report any entity aiding or abetting ICE.

NY should also use this as the basis to declare Penal Law 35.15 valid for lethal self-defense against ICE.
