Die ganze Zeit wurde von der namenlosen Haussuchung bei ihnen (wie bei andern) gesprochen. »Rollkommando« von acht Mann. »Da setzt euch auf die Bundeslade« (eine Truhe), gemeinste Beschimpfungen, Stöße, Schläge, Frau Neumann erhielt fünf Ohrfeigen. Alles durchwühlt, wahlloser Raub: Lichte, Seife, eine Heizsonne, ein Koffer, Bücher, ein halbes Pfund Margarine (legitim auf Marken gekauft), Schreibpapier, alle Art Tabak, Schirm, die Militärorden (»Du kannst sie ja doch nicht mehr brauchen«). - »Wo lässt du waschen?« - »Zu Haus.« - »Dass du dich nicht unterstehst, deine Wäsche außerhalb waschen zu lassen!« - »Warum werdet ihr alle so alt? - Hängt euch doch auf, macht doch den Gashahn auf« Leider auch Briefe, Adressen, Schriftstücke überhaupt mitgenommen. They rummaged through everything , stole indiscriminately: candles, soap, an electric fire, a suitcase, books, half a pound of margarine (legitimately bought with ration coupons), writing paper, all kinds of tobacco, umbrella, his military decorations ("You won't be needing them anymore"). - "Where do you have your laundry done?" - "It's done at home." - "Watch you don't have the cheek to have your laundry done outside!" - "Why do you all get so old? Go on and string yourselves up, turn on the gas." Unfortunately also letters, addresses, written matter in general taken away.
