I’ve literally listened as 90s music crept in. First it was Pearl Jam. Then STP. Then Soundgarden. If it’s rock, it’s heavy, and it’s not too aggro, it gets on the list. Also the argument you are making in favor of classic rock stations can literally be made for oldies.

The very fact that a classic rock station even deigns to put Pearl Jam in the same lineup as Led Zeppelin disproves your whole theory. Thirty years ago no one would have even considered this. And you’re living in a fantasy world if you think you aren’t going to hear My Morning Jacket there soon.

And I’m arguing that it should be. What started as a description of older pop music became it’s own genre. Also classic rock is not set in stone, they play Pearl Jam and nirvana on classic rock radio
