Somebody who had a fucking monstrous Doctor who hyperfixation a couple years back. It's potentially the ultimate example of a show that would benefit indescribably from just becoming tokusatsu. Like if the bbc just gave the right to toei They would not be struggling with the series whatsoever

It's been really sad. And I was so looking forward to seeing Rose as The Doctor. If the delay is Russell Davies coming up with scripts, isn't it time to open up the writer's room a bit?

Why did you cast someone if they can't start filming immediately, they did one special and now they're gone for a year and a half. What the fuck are you even doing?

I'm not saying they need to do that, I would be perfectly fine with just filming like normal, but it's the one show that absolutely does not need long gaps, but even takes them in insane positions like between actors!

Everything else, it's like 'oh the actors need a break, a chance to do something else, etc etc'... They don't on Doctor Who.

You can just film 20 episodes, space them out a little with a gap in the middle, and by the time they start airing, you've already started filming with the next Doctor.

The thing that will really get you is when you realize that Doctor Who is the only show that could film essentially continually.

Nothing is stopping them from filming one doctor, doing a regeneration special, and continuing straight into the next.

It's like by the time a new season comes out, I've forgotten why I should care.

If a show is remotely popular you can pretty much guarantee it's going to be condemned to short seasons and long production gaps between them.
Kinda like how Stranger Things seasons were released in 2016, 2017, 2019...then 2022 and 2025. 3 years to release 25 episodes, then 6 years to release 17.

We've also had consistent 13 episodes that dropped down to 8, meaning nearly every episode needs to play into the disappointing finale instead of keeping them more spread out

Classic is also on about every one of the FAST streaming services like Pluto and Tubi. Everything pre-McGann is very accessible now, thankfully.

That’s what really turned me off the series. After a while, it got so you have to watch every episode to understand some whole mystery story arc that retcons a bunch of stuff and barely makes sense by the standards of the show. We need those standalone episodes

Maybe let's just have one single fucking season of standalones again. No arc. No mystery box. No bullshit ending that leaves everyone disappointed.

Part of what's destroyed any momentum for the show has been the *constant* long breaks. It built itself with consistent yearly seasons for almost ten years, and then the following ten years has just been "Oh, y'know, whenever."

Then nobody knows when the damn thing is on or even that it came out.

And guess who we just learned is teaming up with Flock, and will be giving access to ICE?
