I liked One Battle After Another. BUT the hyper-sexualization of Black women and the absence of commentary on it was...interesting. The subtext was text as Black people say.

I have written, worried and worked around the “fairness gap” described here my whole academic career. I will say that the changes in reading that we are currently talking about aren’t really about that. It is so much bigger & sudden than that which is why I think people are talking about it.

My favorite armchair comment is Americans don‘t understand authoritarianism, because so many of you don’t count Black people as Americans. Learn the history or shut up.

I haven’t said this enough lately. There are lessons to be taken from the Black folks and activists who have been fighting fascists for a very long time. Often under worse conditions with far less options.

Justin Driver, a Yale Law professor and the author of The Fall of Affirmative Action, told me that he expects any elite college that doesn’t start enrolling fewer Black students to be accused by the Trump administration of breaking the law.

This is precisely the claim that evidently animates the rigthwing majority on the Court: That any "burden" placed upon the regime by insisting the constitution is still in effect, the separation of powers is still a thing, and the law is still the law, causes the government irreparable harm.
