the question for all the already actually rich people in entertainment is do they make stuff for these people (and amazon) or are they just wearing cute red carpet pins

This is pretty good news as I’m a fan of @adamoprice.bsky.social. The Hotel Neversink is a great book.

This guy does the β€œgood writing” so many are taking about.

There is never a bad time to note that Mathias Enard's novels are all great and that @avecsesdoigts.bsky.social's fantastic translations make it possible for me to read them (as I am certain that my three years of high school French from the early 90s would ne cut it pas).

The bass player in our band has flatwound strings on his Rickenbacker. I love the sound.

Child asking me about photographs in my office…

”…is this one your mother, or your teacher?”

β€œThat is Iris Murdoch, my favorite novelist and philosopher”

β€œβ€¦that is also Iris Murdoch.”

The youngest author on the livingroom bookshelf: Mathias Enard (1972). Not likely to change as no one younger than me is allowed. I'm not even allowed.

It was in no way necessary and was an inconvenience to the people I live with.

But I did learn that AS Byatt is one year older than Thomas Pynchon, which I had not expected.

I spent the weekend rearranging the books on my part of the main bookshelf in the living room.

I switch from organizing them based on "I feel like this goes here" to "roughly chronological based on when the author was born, unless that would cause an author's books to be split between shelves."

Keep honking! I’m listening to the LibriVox recording of Ann Radcliffe’s 1794 gothic masterpiece β€œThe Mysteries of Udolpho” and am so engaged by the voluptuous prose that I missed my turn and now I am lost, traveling along an empty lane, the trees bending ever closer, an endless horrid embrace.

At the grocery, my daughter asked to look at the dish scrubbies. She has a whole collection. She bought new one to draw a face on and play with.

On the way to the car she said she was overwhelmed with excitement because she was β€œstarting a new adventure” with this scrubbie and I almost cried.
