This isn't going to get the attention of Columbia, but it's at least as bad: the University of Maine is having its funding cut off because the governor of Maine dared to challenge Trump.

Graduate student admissions paused and cut back as universities react to Trump orders on research In response to Trump science policies, universities are accepting fewer graduate students than normal and freezing positions, STAT has learned.

Words of wisdom from a friend at the #AAASmtg: We can't despair. Despair never liberated anybody.
(I would amend to: We can't despair for long, and we can take turns despairing.)

My research was supported by a federal grant focused on advancing media literacy. Unfortunately, our team can no longer complete the project, and my salary has been frozen. The silver lining is that I can continue part-time work on other research and dedicate more time to science communication.

I haven't decided if I need something to replace that other site or if I'm better off leaving it all behind, but I figured I should post at least once here so the people following me know I'm a real person and I'm checking in.
