Feedback Deficiency: the tricky art of effective peer feedback β quantixed
I wrote something about why giving negative feedback to your colleagues can be a bit like slaying vampires in The Lost Boys, or something like that.

We prefer to savour our science, allowing each experiment and observation to simmer gently. Just like a slow-cooked dinner, we patiently wait for all the ingredients to combine, creating a tasty and hearty result. #slowscience

Very proud of the team that put this story together, especially co-first authors Selena Burgess and James Shelford, and thankful for all the enjoyable collaborations along the way. 5/n

Meanwhile, we discovered Affimers that block the interaction, and James in @steveroyle.bsky.social used them to find a novel function for this interaction in mitotic cells. 4/n

We showed that this helix binds TACC3 - but the structure of this complex eluded us until AlphaFold came along. And then we checked it and tested it to be confident in the model. 3/n

Mark Pfuhl's group determined the 3D structure of ch-TOG's TACC3 binding domain, finding a helix that dynamically associates with the rest of the domain. 2/n

Structural characterization and inhibition of the interaction between ch-TOG and TACC3 | Journal of Cell Biology | Rockefeller University Press
Shelford, Burgess, and colleagues present a structural model of the interaction between TACC3 and ch-TOG. They discover Affimers that can inhibit this inte
AlphaFold was a game changer for this project. AF stories are a bit boring aren't they? It helped really us to make sense of our structural data. With some neat HDX-MS experiments, it all came together. A big thank you to all the authors, it's great to see it published! 3/n
