Ignorant, or irresponsible or both? Their kids and grandkids will hold them accountable when they realise the hard way what a huge mistake this is.

Breaking it down by age group makes it even more extraordinary, and distressing, as it’s my age group that are still moving to the right!

If I could just summarize 1 sentence from the new National Academy of Sciences study on climate, boldface, flashing red, it would be:

"the evidence for current and future harm to human health and welfare created by human-caused GHGs is beyond scientific dispute."

BEYOND SCIENTIFIC DISPUTE

Bill’s exactly right. 99.9% of climate denial is solution aversion. They don’t want to fix it, but they know that saying β€œit’s real and serious but I don’t want to fix it” isn’t a great message. So they go with the smoke screen of science denial instead.

September 2025 was the third warmest on record in the Berkeley Earth dataset. But this downplays how anomalous it was; without 2023 and 2024 this year would have been well above any prior records and well above the long-term trend:

As a scientist I’m not happy this is what we should be saying. I know it doesn’t fit on a banner, but Science gives us the best view of the facts available at the time. Can be wrong, but not once the number and quality of consistent studies is high enough and sufficient time has passed. 🧐

most of those males are there to send money back to their families in Asia, and work 6 or 7 days a week. I think some might say we did that in the β€œgood old days” of the industrial revolution with eg Irish men?

Five staples fuelling UK food inflation as climate risks rise, study finds Findings challenge narrative that food price growth is being driven by higher taxes and wage costs

UK food inflation is being driven by climate change-induced extreme weather, driving up price of butter, milk, beef, chocolate & coffee

The price rises in those staples is contributing 40% of overall food inflation

The oil and gas burnt to drive the AI servers will just make the problem bigger. Humans have the knowledge and brain power to solve this…just, it seems, not the common sense or will…especially the will to collaborate for the common good 🫣

This graph says it all: instead of starting to go down, the *annual increase* of atmospheric CO2 is setting new records. We're making climate change worse at a record rate.
Turning this around should be our top priority, and it's not.

Much worse. Generally Tech support in cricket umpiring works, second only to Rugby which is a fantastic mix of TV and referee team work for me. So cricket could improve using the whole ump team sometimes and not just one individual.
