‘I love Hitler’: Leaked messages expose Young Republicans’ racist chat Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.

my prediction for the adl statement: "in a time of rising antisemitism, we are deeply concerned about these messages. we expect more from these otherwise upstanding young gentlemen and we will continue to work with the trump administration in their mccarthyist pursuits."

Really glad to see this much needed report. The Nexus Project is the moral voice we need against antisemitism and for democratic pluralism, at a time when too many other organizations have abdicated that role.

but also, only 48% of american jews oppose israel's actions in gaza while 46% approve. that dissonance is odd to me.

Jonathan Greenblatt no doubt trying to rush out an ADL statement endorsing this decision and condemning the ADL.

This is exactly right. The ADL is accountable to its board and donors, not to an amorphous "American Jewish community." Their donors are to the right of the median American Jew, but also not right-wing enough for the Jewish right, whose organs (JNS, Tablet, etc.) will probably run defense for Patel.

am i understanding correctly that trump would be in charge of determining who gets to govern gaza? i imagine this would be a nonstarter for hamas, no?

The reason for the anger at posting Kirk’s words is simply that we are entering a fascistic world where the truth is dangerous and lies become facts.

It is literally how fascism sustains itself. Turning bigots into martyrs and innocent people into criminals. And that’s why saying the truth matters.

There is a professor at my college doing actual antisemitism (Leo Frank trutherism) in the name of "anti-Zionism," and I know if I tried to make it an issue, I would be feeding into the very worst right-wing voices who want to shut me and my mostly good institution down, too, so I have no recourse.

"Since trouncing Cuomo in the Democratic primary by 12 points, Mamdani has reiterated his commitment to the safety of Jewish New Yorkers and his willingness to meet with Jewish leaders. A recent survey showed Mamdani leading in the general election with the largest share of Jewish voters, 37%.

Greenblatt said he doesn’t believe polls showing Mamdani with significant support among Jewish voters. “I know something about this candidate,” he said. “He hasn’t been to any of the mainstream Jewish institutions. I mean, I haven’t heard from him. I don’t think the heads of most of the major Jewish groups have.”"

Jonathan Greenblatt dismissed polls showing Mamdani winning a plurality of the NYC Jewish vote. He said the polls must be lying, because Mamdani hasn't spoken to him.

This really is the ADL's goal at this point - to be the sole representative of Jews to the government. Court Jews all over again.

Judea Pearl has been a rare voice in academia cheering on the Trump administration’s crackdown on higher education, so this really is a leopards eating faces situation. And it’s telling that his response is not to stand in solidarity with other academics, but to say, “Investigate them, not me.”

Inside the Crisis at the Anti-Defamation League The group used to believe the rights of Jews were inextricable from the rights of everyone else. Its war against anti-Zionism has changed everything.

This is a well-reported deep dive on how the Anti-Defamation League went from an organization that at least on paper tried to balance support for domestic US liberalism with Zionism, to an organization that is no longer even trying for the former: nymag.com/intelligence...

if people having to risk their safety and lives to have the chance to eat a single meal per day, getting mugged or shot at before returning to a displaced persons camp, is what you think “real humanitarian aid looks like”, no wonder war crimes look like liberal democracy to you.

after totally starving the gaza strip for months, israel/the US/the GHF began distributing meals on may 26. if noa tishby’s calculation is correct (i’m not sure of her source), this means that, on average, the GHF has distributed three-fourths of a meal per person, per day. 🧵

"Shylocks and bad people"

The President claims to be fighting antisemitism, so there is no excuse for him to be using his position to promote an old and notorious anti-Jewish stereotype—a greedy, merciless moneylender—to his many millions of followers.

This is shameful.

Pointing this out does not minimize antisemitism. Just the opposite.

Trump is using Jews. And he is using our tragedies. All for his own gain. Even as he gives neo-Nazis and their friends prominent positions in his administration.

It is a disgusting use of Jewish pain. And it should be called out.

I appreciate this message, and I'll add on: I am a Jewish person and I do not want any peaceful Palestinian, Muslim, or Arab activists in the United States to face deportation or legal reprisals for their activism, in the supposed name of Jewish safety.

I just met with Mohsen Mahdawi where he’s being held in Vermont.

He was detained when he showed up for his citizenship interview.

He should be released so he can become a citizen.

When I met with Mohsen Mahdawi today, we spoke about how appreciative he is to have the support of so many people in Vermont.

He said one of the reasons he wanted to become a citizen was because of his belief in American democracy.

He hopes that justice will prevail in his case.

personally, i don't want to live in a country where my peers can be disappeared by the state for writing an op ed. even an op ed that i find abhorrent.

i want to live somewhere where our politicians have just a fraction of the decency, courage, and compassion that mohsen has.
