I have found immense comfort in volunteering at a local cat rescue, and even rescued two cats in my neighborhood this summer. One of them went to their forever home yesterday!

Apologies for possible unsolicited advice from an Internet stranger, but I lost my cat quite soon before you lost your Pearl (and followed you then). I started volunteering at a cat rescue almost right away, and I'm also feeding a stray in my neighborhood as often as she'll turn up.

A Modfisht Proposal

It was too rainy yesterday, and I did look for her a couple times, so no food for her. But this morning I got outside early and she visited me soon after 8am. She ate half a can of fancy feast, a tube of Churu, and LOTS of Temptations treats, some from my hand. I'm sure she'll be back later today.

Also I saw her first thing this morning! She ate more than half a small can of food, more treats, Churu, AND she even let me pet her a bit while she ate treats.

Her left eye seems a bit infected or at least very watery with pigmented tears. Maybe I have a chance of trapping her. Progress!

She did come back yesterday! She was mostly interested in crunchy treats, from a distance, but also accepted some Churu after I started dabbing it on the treats before I tossed them towards her. Eventually got close enough to lick from the tube! When she was done she stayed close but out of sight.

I got to feed a cat in my neighborhood today. She's less than two years old and quite small. Skittish but trusted me enough to sit a few feet away on the ground as she ate. I fed her a couple times last summer. She's got an injury below her eye so hoping I can perhaps trap her for TNR / adoption.
