The Mysterious Hermit

seaweed
salt spray
goldenrods

the same moon as always
yet ever I stop to admire her

the crevice is illuminated

full moon to-night

another cross quarter day passed

big soup

waxing gibbous to-night

thieves in the daylight

returned before nightfall

journeying to-day

spinning in the void

perpetual stew

coveting thine mysterious orbs

dashed upon the rocks

driven to madness

eyes floating in the dark

gazing through the black mirror
that fetid swamp
a bewitching world devoid o color and joy

viewing streams
and brooks

I hath been summoned

ye can break bread
but only a fool attempt to break soup

many a traveler lost in the hole

have lost a second butter in the bog

felled by the slopping mud

escaped the crevasse

ye be a sumptuous snack

wedged in a crevasse

a day o rest under the rustling canopy

aye a chestnut indeed

returning from whence I cometh

yearning at the sea shore
