The Pope Speaks Out on Climate Change โ๏ธ๐
Pope Leo XIV has condemned those who downplay the "increasingly evident" impacts of rising temperatures...echoing the words of Pope Francis before him.
He is calling on citizens everywhere to step up and protect the planet for future generations ๐ฑโก

This is what happens when justice serves power instead of people.
Banksyโs latest piece shows a judge beating a protester. They rushed to throw up barriers to hide it.
We need this here because it looks a lot like our own Supreme Court vs. the people.

Why did UK govt go ahead with this boondoggle?

Lead story in The Times: Rachel Reeves' new advisor has links to Thames Water Lobbyists. Above a photo of Jenny Scott, the sub-heading reads "Jenny Scott will work at the Treasury and continue with her role at Apella Advisors โ a firm she co-founded โ which advocates for the water firm"
๐That's not a good look. Worse, it's a conflict of interest.
Thames Water is in crisis. Why would the Chancellor of the Exchequer appoint someone from a firm who lobbies on their behalf?
Private firms should be nowhere near Thames Water.

Incredibly infuriating to press the button then stand and wait for 30 seconds (or more!) before the lights change. Why? Whatโs the justification? Why would you leave a pedestrian, exposed to the elements, standing waiting to allow cars to continue on?

So Ofwat is crap. Now what?
Time to put water companies into special measures, so the investors whoโve creamed off profits can't stick customers with the bill.

Cutting "red tape" (aka public protections), as Reeves is doing, does not save money. Instead, it transfers costs from the rich to the poor. Other people pay for financial recklessness, filthy rivers, air pollution, lax building standards and consumer rip-offs.

If the water companies were in public ownership, I could protest against this at the ballot box. Instead I have to watch on helplessly as they poison our water and land, and pay out ever increasing bonuses and dividends. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
