An excellent thread of historical cases of dangerous info-slop, and how it contaminates through generations. I made similar points in my Gist piece from 2024, below.

If access to bank activity for suspected fraud is a legitimate exercise of state power so is access to bank activity for suspected tax evasion.

It would be so, so easy for Labour to draw a line in the sand at β€œnon-white MPs are fifth columnists who should be deported”, surely. If only from a point of respecting their colleagues if not actual principles (but then, Starmer refused to defend Sadiq against Trump, so…)

11 people in Australia were killed today by gunmen while they celebrated the first night of Chanukah at Sydney’s Bondi Beach. Targeted because they were Jews.

As Jewish families around the world, we place our menorahs in our windows. Our message to the world: Light will outlive the darkness.

We are horrified and shaken in the wake of the mass shooting at a Chanukah event in Bondi this evening, which has left at least ten people dead and injured many more.

This is the first night of Chanukah when we gather with loved ones and friends to light the Chanukiah. 1/4

"House of Commons Jerk Seasoning" is 1) an extremely funny concept and more importantly 2) a sign of a complete and total victory for cultural pluralism in a way that is kind of difficult to concieve

Doing the little hobbies, activities & side quests you love is so hard & so important, because they're *not* little, they're how you choose to delight in being alive, but Capitalism & its flunkeys continually tell us that Work is the only true & moral thing, & revokes food & shelter if we shirk it.

One of my neighbors has been putting up these fish facts posters. All kinds of different fish, marine, freshwater, deep, shallow, all kinds. This is a good one. β€œStg this real fish” took me out. Good work, neighbor.

Hey everyone, here's the news, if you aren't a high earner, entrepreneur or a "skilled frontline worker" (whatever the fuck that means) the "Labour" Party says you aren't contributing, you're a taker!

my great-grandparents arrived in the UK in the 1890s with nothing.
they sold pickles from the front room window, took in laundry, worked as tailors.
their children were nurses, teachers, salesmen.
their grandchildren were professors, designers, opticians, doctors, magistrates, entrepreneurs.

Heavy, precious, an honour & privilege to hold, and absolutely not something one can drop; all these are true of both. But neither of my babies have ever been surmounted by intricate & noisy silverwork.

We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions.

It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.
