The Piper regeneration is I think, in a crowded field, the single stupidest decision that has been made in Who. Either don‘t do the last minute edits and have the option of regenerating Gatwa offscreen, or just have his face glow and cut to credits.

Reminds me of when folk thought that Nancy saying it was Mr Lloyd (not Mrs Lloyd) carrying on with the butcher meant that the two men were doing black market fiddles not shagging. Moffat eventually said it was shagging, the aforementioned folk said he'd now done a less good job than they'd thought.

My memory is that Hannah Gordon turned it down and then someone was cast, who was then replaced by Barbara Flynn.
