as someone who was born in the 21st century the existence of nuclear bombs has always been a constant while never really being a Threat. i've never actually lived in a world where nuclear war seemed like a real possibility. that scene really hit me with the full "what have We done" of it all i think

also i had heard it was great but i was absolutely not prepared for the trinity test. that did something to me that i did not know movies could do. maybe im just drunk but it did really deeply hit me all at once the true tragedy that is the existence of nuclear weapons.

started watching oppenheimer tonight and wa struck by how well the timing has lined up since i'm also reading frankenstein. there are some really compelling parallels here.

yea i think the last couple of popes being progressive relative to the very low standard of popes has pulled the wool over peoples eyes. that being said i think being blanketly antitheistic is ideologically too far and tactically counterproductive.

like my adhd when unmedicated is so bad i physically can not sit down and focus on a book but i have grown to absolutely love reading in the past year. it's really hard to keep myself from constantly being bored when im out of meds.

its been a lot easier than i expected to balance reading multiple books at a time. i've been reading both small gods and frankenstein at the same time and i really can't put either down ive been finding myself closing one just to open the other. reading can be so fun ive really been missing out.

and i get 2 discworld books from my dad's library at a time and i would really like to keep going with those because they are SO fun and always a great way to start my day.

i still need to finish dune messiah, snowcrash, and this self help book that my sister and partner insist that i read before i do that tho. also i got dracula from my local bookstore when i bought frankenstein so that probably takes priority too.

man frankenstein bangs. i've had a 1200 page tome of lovecraft's collected works on my bookshelf for about a decade now that i got about a quarter of the way into when i first got it maybe i can try to tackle that soon because i really want more of this
