One of the most resonant activities in my writing classes centers, transparently & forcefully, definitions of parts of the writing process. It’s powerful because many FYS don’t know the difference between editing and revising, for ex, or why free writing is beneficial. I’m grateful for this thread.

Now many times are we gonna have to dance this dance before these people learn the goddam steps.

"AI" reproduces, exacerbates, and iterates the biases and values it was trained on. Those biases and values are, largely, very bad. There for the reproductions will most often be as bad and worse.

Variations can include tomatoes and hazelnuts, or whatever!

When nuts are done, assemble salad: tear up handful of mint leaves. Sprinkle half the nuts on the greens, then half the oil, and half the mint. Place the burrata in the center and pour the rest of the oil over it, then sprinkle the rest of the nuts & mint. Add more salt to taste.

2. Greens with burrata, mint, and pine nuts: create a bed of greens (mixed, baby, whatever suits you). Heat a tablespoon of EVOO with some chili pepper flakes. Pour heated oil into a dish, and roast a handful of pinenuts in that pan, add sea salt.

1. Chickpea, cucumber, green bean, & tomato salad: Mix one can each of chickpeas and cut green beans with a cucumber and a large tomato. Add olive oil, sea salt, pepper, and curry powder to taste. Easy to scale up.

Once friends and I were talking about the diff vibes of the cities. One compared Mpls to the cool cousin w slick hair & a nice car taking you clubbing until 2 am; StP was the cool aunt with pie waiting when you came home. 3rd friend: she made that pie in the brick oven she built herself in the back.

The heavy tendency in MLA to not just cite but to introduce a source also has roots in rhetoric, I would bet. A quote is not just effective for what it says, but who says it (and whether they have credibility).

I’m sure that’s by design, but I doubt it was conscious in their part. Would be interesting to hear their take on how certain foods ended up in their categories.

Interesting! There seems to be a tendency to prefer APA in my new field (fac dev) but my disciplinary roots (Eng) tend to strongly prefer the MLA style!

And also, like super heavy on seafood? Some of which I’m allergic to, so can never eat, despite my epicurean sensibilities and desire to taste everything.

The obit sales manager there is not an editor and had no right to tell you these things (could have just said it violated policy). As a fellow child of a failed father I sympathize with you.
