Oh! Maybe try Pole Position by Rebecca Caffery. I loved it! It is about 2 drivers falling in love and did a great job of balancing all of the things you talked about. It actually reminded me a bit of a hockey romance in that way (another sport I know little about but enjoy in romancelandia.)

I live in the town where this show was filmed and they just had a huge convention here for all of the fans. We even have a real Mystic Grill restaurant that is super fun and worth checking out!
