It's fucking awful. And remember that other people's expectations there don't matter. There is so much where people think you should just have your shit figured out already. It doesn't work that way and you should be proud you're trying. It is hard and you deserve credit for that, too.

And you deserve that forgiveness from yourself because all of this is a harm to you as well. You've been hurt so remember that and remember you deserve compassion as much as anyone else you think you've hurt.

And then really the step is to make sure you have done what you can now to minimize any harm that came from it. Because you can't fix the past but you can do your best now. Then realize that you have done what you can and work on being kind to yourself. Because you need it.

It means taking some ownership, even if it stems from the fact that it was caused by something you can't control. What you can control is how you react afterwards. So I try to make amends. Not everyone wants and apology or accept it but I hope getting one is healing for them either way.

I can't speak on psychosis and that sounds scary and upsetting but I can speak on someone with mental health issues including PTSD which has lead to some reactions I am not proud of. The first step for me is actually owning it. It's so tempting to rationalize it but that buries it.
