5) Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown - Oh man. Went in expecting a bit of fun, came out the other end adoring this.

Not a perfect game, but its thrills are so intense and its high points so high I didn't really care. Genuine moments where I was laughing with mad joy. Can't wait for Ace Combat 8 now.

Oh my god, EXACT same experience. My sister also worked there at the time so I got free McFlurries, still a fond memory.

4) A little To The Left - Have to say I was a little disappointed with this one. For a game about calm vibes and stoic precision, there was a lot of what I felt to be vague solutions that got me rather irritated. Not the worst way to whittle away a few hours, all the same.

3) Warriors: Abyss - There's fun to be had with this weird Dynasty Warriors-meets-Hades roguelike, especially when it all kicks off.

Yet - despite its scale and number of characters - I can't help but feel after beating the final boss a few times I've already seen all the game has to offer.

2) BIRDCAGE - Never been the best or most avid player of shmups, but this oozes so much style it's hard not to get engrossed in the entire thing. Incredible soundtrack to boot.

1) Proverbs - Second I learnt the shape of this massive puzzle I knew I was destined to complete it. Expertly designed to keep you picking away at it, and a perfect chill game to slot in those little slices of free time.

Realising I'm actually annoyed by the Pokemon Lego reveal. It's aimed at collectors with money to burn, not at kids or Pokemon fans.
