The Cardinals offense is getting pulverized by Seattle.
Just six days after the Cowboys defense made them look absolutely unstoppable.
Amazing, honestly.
Douthat has been turned loose this year to write about/interview people about every weird hangup he kept under wraps for the years he was written columns at NYT.
Deep down, he wants to return to the days of Thomas Aquinas when the Church ruled all and everyone knew their place.
Yes, very weird.
With the current infinite number of podcasts on offer, this would be a very plausible addition.
What used to be 15 minutes of fame is now 45 minutes of self-indulgent verbal wandering, repeated ad infinitum.
Americans do worse at state fairs all over the country, selling nauseating junk to thousands and thousands.

It's clear they are trying maximize public suffering, in hopes of getting people to blame Dems for that suffering. But it's transparently the White House working overtime to keep the suffering going!

What drivel.
βThe problem is that when it is installed in a health sector that prizes efficiency, surveillance and profit extraction, AI becomes not a tool for care and community but simply another instrument for commodifying human life.β

Sometimes Bluesky gets blinded by politics.
Folks here don't get the implications (I'm neutral). People would rent houses that are effectively owned by the banks. However, owners would still get gains long-term from ownership in terms of price appreciation when they sell. Plus the real value of fixed mortgage payments would plummet.
Not bad.
The evidence AI tutors work "astonishing well" is incredibly thin. We've seen these same promises made for virtually every technological "innovation" of the past 100 years. (Carl's essay is more nuanced than this post describing it.)

The more participants relied on AI to remember, decide, or explain, the less capable they became of reasoning independently. Younger users (those most immersed in generative tools) showed the greatest decline. Gerlich describes this as a kind of βcognitive dependenceβ:
