As much as I want Newsom to be as far away from the nomination as Rahm, apparently he's required by CA law to do this, as per Parker Malloy, who is not inclined to make excuses for him.

I feel like, with Newsom's current trolling game, he should have declared (Every bad current trend in American society began with) Ronald Reagan Day.

It's a tangential thing, but part of this reminds me of Peter Gabriel either starting up or amplifying an organization called Witness back in either the late 80s or early 90s specifically aimed at regular folks documenting global wrongdoing, with handheld cameras at the time.

Sometimes very hard not to feel like the rest of the country has abandoned Minnesota. We STILL have ICE everywhere. Our schools, businesses, and economy are in profound crisis. But without Bovino here throwing tear gas, much of the country seems to not care at all what’s being done to us.

My variation on this is that something hurts while I'm sleeping and when I wake up I can't tell if I dreamt it or if the rest fixed whatever it was in the short term. But also this.

on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.
