Gulls always get me! It’s so hard to tell them apart. But a great challenge for casual beach time birding when laying on a towel or munching on some snacks by the sea.

Each morning I run the electric kettle to make tea/coffee and then I run it again to bring hot water outside that will thaw the ice in the birdbath. It usually results in a much appreciated flow of feathered visitors from my work window!

Does anyone else’s cat make them a better birder?
My indoor window-watching fur ball spots interesting scenes on the reg.
From baby cardinals in trees, to birds enjoying the bird bath, and even bunnies munching on my echinacea plants. She spots it first from the windowsill!

The companies we got quotes from warned that radiator heat is way more comfortable than “air heat” 🤔
25.09.2025 15:20 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Fascinating. I wonder what it would look like to get a heat pump that would power our radiators? I wonder if that’s a thing I could get here in the US?
25.09.2025 15:19 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0We would do the whole house humidifier which is appealing to me too.
Did you switch from radiator heat to air heat?
Thanks! We’d be switching from oil and boiler system with radiators to using the air ducts for heating too. 4 out of 6 companies that came to give us quotes warned about the less comfortable feeling we’d get with the switch…

Who here has a heat pump in their home? Can you tell me a bit about your winters and if you’re comfortable and how dry the air gets? #energysky

Amazing!! I love Boneset. Had a Lesser Boneset appear in my yard as a volunteer and it too attracted large parties of pollinators!
