How anyone is supposed to make an informed voting decision in this sort of information environment is beyond me.

Which might well be be bollocks but it's stuck with me as an interesting theory.

Years ago I heard an interview with Scaramucci where he said that Trump isn't a racist because to be a racist you have to, on some level, conceive of other people as people, and Trump just doesn't do that. For him it'd be like being racist towards red cars over blue cars, totally incomprehensible.

I just ate half a blackened banana that my two year old deemed unworthy of finishing. The worst part is I was thankful to get it.

I note that Minions 3 is coming out this summer. Seems strange that seven (and counting) films about Minions is fine and uncontroversial but one (1) book about straight women is apparently bang out of order.

But if we’re talking local produce, the nicest pear I ever had was the one I nicked off our neighbour‘s tree here in north London.

I knew they were in for a nasty shock when I saw one of them in an interview saying they were going to scrutinise budgets "down to the last biscuit". There are no biscuits any more. Not for years and years.

We just try to remember past phases (like the month he spent insisting that he have sole possession of the remote control for the telly) to remind ourselves that they do, in fact, end.

Our toddler hasn't done a "no" phase (yet!) but he's currently going through a period of climbing onto his mother and trying to pull great handfuls of her hair out by the roots, whilst laughing all over his gnome face. It is extremely stressful.

Our winter strawberries are grown in Morocco, frozen and flown over, and they look like it too. I’ll grab you a pic when I’m the supermarket tomorrow (a picture of a wizened half-white strawberry: something to look forward to there).

(the honourable exception here is strawberries, which are genuinely worth waiting until summer for.)

This is it. If I can persuade my son to eat a spoonful of any vegetable that isn't the inevitable baked beans (failure beans, as I've started to think of them) I'm doing victory laps of the flat. I'm unlikely to spend to long fretting about the provenance, even if I probably should.
