Starting the day in a federal occupation and way too hot to deal with fucking PBM rep reading me names of other medications my kid could try, like she knows fuck all about treating kids with asthma.

Spending my morning on phone with insurance, doc, pharmacy trying to get fucking PBM to cover the asthma med my kid needs. Generic in stock, that isn't covered. Name brand, out of stock, covered. Risking asthma attack and possible hospital to honor their agreement with some drug company.

Above all, I want everyone who led us to this point to be held accountable in such a way that it is CENTURIES before someone thinks to try it again.

The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

This week we found out radiator pipes can have micro leaks at joints when hot that reseal with mineral deposits as they cool and then never come back . Random puddle in basement , has not happened before or again. Good stuff

A cute kid story to end this crappy week. I took my 3yo to the community center for free "tot time" since his daycare is closed (because of ICE). He got super excited when he saw where we were and yelled "Yay tator tot time! I love going to tator tot time"

So if Minneapolis schools are closed tomorrow, how much of a target does that make St. Paul (or other suburbs) tomorrow? Asking as parent of a kid who attends a majority nonwhite school that is about 100 feet from Minneapolis border 😭 I don’t want to live in this fucking timeline

Go buy a rapid flu covid test and keep it on hand. Trying to navigate sickness with family up north during a blizzard and having some tests on hand at their home would really help figure out plans tomorrow 😩

St. Paul doesn’t have sidewalk inventory or priorities. They would need to do much needed inventory work before taking on municipal clearing. Their sidewalk maintenance and repair , outside of full reconstruction , is ad hoc and questionable decision making.

These therapies are miracles. My youngest was an infant the yr before these were approved. He would have died from RSV w/o hospitalization. They also reduce burden on the hospitals and clinics immensely during cold/flu season.

We have staff with little kids, one that is just coming off surgery and is using crutches. Also a handful of us still mask in office and don’t eat indoors, yet the only departmental activity is eating in a tight basement space the week before Christmas/ holidays. 👎

Nothing says “I appreciate my staff” like refusing to reschedule the annual pizza party, and telling staff they have to commute in during a storm tomorrow. Also assumes everyone is able to trudge thru snow and that no one has kids who might need picking up on time. I feel morale lifting already!

I don’t feel like I’ve changed much since college but my 3yo just stared at a photo of me at college grad and insisted no one looked familiar. Me- “Does that look like mommy?” 3yo - “No. Who is this??”
