Saw Jurassic World Rebirth this weekend and really enjoyed it. But I will always go see a Jurassic movie. I thought it was a fun, well-paced action movie. It won't blow your mind or anything, but it was very entertaining.

Currently in OKC. Can confirm. Not real.

I love the "play to find out" philosophy of PBTA games. Not even the GM should know how the game will turn out. And fail states shouldn't just be "you miss", they should have consequences that push things forward too. Dice are fine for that and so are other mechanisms.

Words matter here.
He was MURDERED.
it was a HATE CRIME because he is a gay Indigenous man.
Say those words. Do not dance around it. He wasn't "killed in a shooting." He was murdered in a hate crime.
Cool bird. Makes a cool sound. Never liked the name.

24.05.2025 19:27 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'd love to see a spinoff. The whole movie was incredible, but that scene definitely got me excited. I love when movies include those details but don't explain everything. It makes the world feel so much bigger and more mysterious.

21.05.2025 03:31 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Imperial boomerang is this idea that a state will eventually end up doing to its own people what they learned to do against colonial subjects. They didn't start with Ghorman, but did eventually get there. It showed that no one was safe, even those who thought they were under the imperial umbrella.
21.05.2025 03:00 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It's significant that Ghorman is a wealthy core world populated mostly by humans. We know the empire has done terrible things already, but they've mostly been to aliens, in war zones, or on our rim worlds no one is watching (at least as far as I know the lore, which isn't everything).
21.05.2025 03:00 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Finished Andor a couple days ago. I've seen some great commentary, but I haven't seen anyone mention Ghorman and the imperial boomerang.

I got Lane Kim from Gilmore Girls. I could not have predicted this.
19.05.2025 11:41 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Just saw sinners, absolutely one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. It uses the horror genre to say so much.
And now, I just really want to learn more about the lore of this world.
But if you are into this kind of thing, it can be a breath of fresh air.
08.05.2025 19:39 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0People have occasionally asked, "what is someone is losing and just tries to tank the game for everyone?" Well, A) that's hard to do in this game and B) this probably isn't the game for them. Make sure people know what they are getting into before they start.
08.05.2025 19:39 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Instead, I wanted people to be aware of the bigger picture of how other people are doing. This isn't a game about crushing your friends (though games like that are totally fine too). But I don't think that hard core competition and optimization are the only ways to enjoy a game.
08.05.2025 19:39 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The semi-cooperative debate really reflects on people's attitudes about games and competition in general. I never wanted Winter Rabbit to be a hyper-competitive game. That style of play doesn't fit the theme at all.
08.05.2025 19:39 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0In practice, some people focus on the cooperative aspect entirely. Other start cooperative and switch to competitive when they know the village is safe. I've only seen a few people play the game extremely competitively. I think that balance is totally fine.
08.05.2025 19:39 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The cooperative aspect is much easier than most fully cooperative board games. I want people to win if they understand the systems and generally don't screw each other over.
08.05.2025 19:39 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0For context, Winter Rabbit is a game where we are working together to prepare a Cherokee village for winter. If that goal succeeds, then one player wins. Points are gained by contributing to the village's success, so in general we are always moving toward that goal.
