09.12.2025 20:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Disgraceful that an apparent attempted assassination of one of MN's (and the nation's) most prominent Indigenous activist/politician "wasn't a priority" for local sheriff. Winona's got it right: bet there'd be answers fast if Lisa Demuth's home got shot up.

It's to maintain access to the HVAC (or other equipment) room!
09.12.2025 17:31 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agree, might be currently fine but as the tree continues to grow the center of mass is going to continue traveling from the boulevard to the center of the road, and the trunk will only be able to support so much lateral weight. Couldn't pay me to park my bike under it

08.12.2025 16:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Since the 1980s, both income inequality and neighborhood segregation by income have increased. We look at how these patterns are connected and how much neighborhood segregation contributes to income inequality in a new article by @lisacamnermckay.bsky.social: https://bit.ly/3MdPHJH

Did wish they emphasized their EQuIS more - they need to do as much as possible to reduce friction contractors encounter when submitting data given what a huge boon EQuIS is for the general public and their staff.
06.12.2025 01:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Requires contractors to add a bunch more stuff to analytical tables - also loved seeing this, hopefully it'll give the MPCA's site managers more context when reviewing reports. I think this was mainly done to make it easier for MN's sites to be listed on the EPA NPL.
06.12.2025 01:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Formally requires contractors to start validating analytical chemistry results - they may run into issues with this because the MPCA's validation guidance is ambiguous around a large set of QC failures. Hope their site managers are doing some kind of backup QC.
06.12.2025 01:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0All #PFAS detections in soil are gonna be treated as groundwater threats given MN's super low drinking water criteria and the chemical's high mobility in the environment - loved seeing this because MPCA hasn't updated their criteria for evaluating soil-to-groundwater leaching since 2013. 2013!
06.12.2025 01:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0MPCA released new guidance yesterday regarding soil/water investigations at MERLA sites, i.e., sites polluted with stuff other than petroleum or pesticides/fertilizer. Items I thought most interesting:

05.12.2025 15:19 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Crazy stuff! The most important study used to claim glyphosate is safe was retracted because it was actually ghostwritten by Monsanto. A bit annoying ithe retraction just happened now and not when the fraud was revealed 8 years ago.

04.12.2025 17:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yep! The dam at Ford Pkwy turns the river into a large lake during the winter. You'll sometimes see tire tracks on the river ice too.

Found this awesome widowmaker on a walk. The wind that cracked the trunk must have been crazy to be in π
