A year ago there were a lot of well-meaning, centrist institutional types who were sure that Trump was unstoppable

Today is the last day of the 4th year of Russia's war.

Very funny that tankies will argue that RW authoritarianism in South Korea and Taiwan was entirely attributable to US support and the CIA while she'll just say that democracy is bad bc the US backed it.

Per tankies, the reason rightwing authoritarianism is bad is that it can turn into democracy.

This just feels like it needs a "pretty legal" response when they get called on the copyright of the music.

It’s a safe bet to assume they don’t understand the underlying reasons for the loss of legitimacy, don’t have a realistic plan to restore trust, but are using it as an excuse to pursue their preferred priorities. In some cases, the people pointing to declining trust have contributed directly to the assault on institutions as critics, and will further weaken organizational legitimacy as failed stewards of the institutions they are charged with leading. Don’t fall for the trust trap.

So whats the lesson? Beware people bemoaning declining trust in institutions. Taking them at face value is likely an error, giving them your help a fool’s errand. Don't fall for the trust trap.

-zero allies on board
-UK potentially actively refusing to let us use their bases
