batting average is stupid for many reasons but *especially* in the context of big innings. to have big innings you want to do one thing: not get out. OBP is all you should focus on, and the key to a good OBP is being patient and taking walks, not relying on something like BABIP

also, six of the runs that inning and 8 of 11 total were scored via the home run

literally the key to avoiding a big inning as a pitcher is to throw strikes and hope they swing and hope they do in fact make contact. because it's basically impossible to have numbers that crooked without walks

i would actually argue against this point. big innings like that are much more likely to be a result of good discipline. it's a lot easier to have a huge inning like that when you work the count and draw walks instead of relying on balls finding holes
