Ugh, the spectacle of the centrist establishment scrambling to rebuild Mandelson’s reputation yet again, before it’s even fully finished crumbling, is deeply unsightly. Excellent round-up from Mic Wright here.

We've done the odd thing outside Brighton (and are always open to offers), but childcare and work commitments preclude doing anything as full-on as a tour.

What could bring down extortionate ticket prices? Perhaps stars like Harry Styles taking a stand | Simon Price The knock-on effect on the rest of the industry is immense. There are many factors at play, but the ones with the power here are the big artists, says music journalist and author Simon Price

I wrote an Opinion piece for @theguardian.com about extortionate gig ticket prices (prompted by Harry Styles' Wembley Stadium residency). www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I don't have a problem with Harry Styles, by the way. He seems like a decent enough guy and his music's fun. Just the prices.

Epstein files photos appear to show Andrew on all fours over woman The photos put further pressure on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor after years of scrutiny over his relationship with Epstein. He has always denied any wrongdoing.

It feels like this photo will be part of popular culture for years to come, and the phrase β€œbearing down on you” will never be far away. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It is quite funny that younger people get told by my generation that the Nineties was all Britpop (or perhaps Grunge in the US), but if you actually look at the British charts, it's mostly dance records made in Italy and the Netherlands.

Rhymes with 'snowy'. It's not even a debate. There are several clips of him saying it.

Tell you who we don’t hear from so much any more. People who told us Brexit will be fine because β€œwe’ll just forge a closer relationship with the United States”.

I’m now facing the harrowing possibility that the little fanfare was always there. I’ve just watched opening credits from 1970 and 1978 and it’s on both of those. I’m losing my mind like my name was Liza Minnelli.

I’ve found a peanuts advert claiming to be from 1981 but it might be mislabelled.

It’s the infantile language (heebie-jeebies, discombobulated) that bothers me almost as much as the content. The tittersome tone of podcasts, aggravating enough on its own patch, has seeped into actual news. As if we’re still in the days of Matt Hancock feeling someone up. These are serious times.

My guess is MOTD, peanuts, pound. But I have no proof.

Kept awake by wondering which order these things happened in: the arrival of dry roasted peanuts in the UK, the launch of the Β£1 coin, and the addition of that little fanfare at the end of the Match Of The Day theme.

The loss of Sky Dunbar has got me thinking of Steve Cropper, who we lost a few weeks ago. Similarly prolific and important. Here’s a question: did they ever play on the same record? Feels like they must have done.

Imagine drumming on Double Barrel when you're 18, then going on to play on Police And Thieves, Pull Up To The Bumper, and a million crucial recordings. And, of course, Boops (a track I often get obsessed with). Like the LP title, Sly Dunbar was a Rhythm Killer. R.I.P. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVIs...

Reporting on the Minneapolis ICE shooting, BBC News is soaked to the skin but still not sure if it's raining... In an attempt to maintain balance, the BBC is letting obvious lies go unchallenged.

Great piece by @brokenbottleboy.bsky.social on BBC News' asinine, cowardly clinging to a misguided notion of 'balance' in reporting ICE's murder of Alex Pretti, making the vital point that 'balance' - specifically false balance - is the opposite of truth. brokenbottleboy.substack.com/p/reporting-...

Why is the BBC not playing footage like this and doing rolling news like they did for Charlie Kirk?

Weird to think we’ve gone from politicians uncritically calling peaceful solidarity marches β€œhate mobs” to this?!

Enjoyed talking @thecure.com last night with photographers @richardbellia.bsky.social (pictured) & @kcmanc.bsky.social, and Isle Of Wight promoter John Giddings at an event to announce the band's IOW headline slot this June, at Iconic Images gallery (who now have a pile of signed Curepedias, btw!).

The Cure - Boys Don't Cry (86 Mix) Listen to content by The Cure.

The Cure - BOYS DON'T CRY. I've always preferred the 86 Mix (formerly known as New Voice - New Mix) to the original. It's never been available digitally or on CD. But it is now (as well as a new limited EP). Get stuck in. It might exceed its highest chart position of 22. thecure.lnk.to/BoysDontCryPR

(I say that as someone who holds both songs in high regard.)
