Jackson has EIGHT years left on his contract!?
that club man
Wouldn't be surprised if we're looking at Thiaw again, that seemed the link most similar to Botman, i.e. no other premier league teams linked. Plus, like Lille at the time, Milan have just had a crappy season, missing out on europe.

07.08.2025 17:31 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I mean he would never, but...
π¨βͺοΈβ«οΈ Liverpool have made an indirect approach with #NUFC and Alexander Isakβs camp. Liverpool are trying to agree terms while Newcastle manager Eddie Howe wants Isak to stay. For Newcastle itβs clear: proposal out of market value or he stays.
Since we're getting linked with every striker we looked at before signing Isak (Ekitike, Ramos, Sesko...), I wonder if we'll get linked with Boniface again.
Leverkusen seem to want rid, so could he be available cheap?
Maybe too many injuries to be Isak's replacement, but worth a gamble as Wilson's?
I mean it'd be pretty ridiculous, but nowhere near as ridiculous an idea that Man U won't simply fold and pay whatever a selling club wants. It's what they do.
07.08.2025 09:35 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One thing to consider in this is not just what was offered, but what the club may be able to offer in future.
Even if both clubs offer 200k a week, Man U can point to top earners in their squad and say, score 40 goals in the next 2 seasons and we'll put you on 350k a week. We can't do that.
Is guest Everton (but definitely secret Nufc) fan @jacobwhitehead.bsky.social still going to be involved?
06.08.2025 21:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0what i don't understand, is that surely buying isak does the same thing?
With isak a guaranteed starter, that puts both ekitike and gakpo blocking his pathway as lw options.
If they want him to get games on the left, the best thing would be to buy a striker that's a backup for ekitike

Love the content btw.
Another more generic question:
how important is shot volume (compared with other centre forward metics such as npxg, np goals-npxg, box touches, shot quality (obv) etc.)?
Stats podcasts seem to mention it more than the others and i'd be interested to understand the reason
Ramos' number are better than i expected.
What were Ramos' numbers like when playing for benfica in the champions league?
That feels like the most #nufc representative data based on teammate quality and opposition quality.
Plenty to both agree and disagree with for me in Dan's article, but having a journalist engage with fans voicing those disagreements on bluesky deserves some credit.
06.08.2025 08:57 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My interpretation is that the majority of those signings you mentioned were done quickly towards the end of windows.
At the start of windows the selling club benefits from slowing the process down, trying to get as many bidders as possible.
Maybe mbuemo would have taken 6m a year if mufc didnt bid.
Fair enough, but my suspicion is that unless there are significant changes in EPL regulations, nufc will find it hard to make the case to proven top quality players (and their agents) that nufc can consistently compete for silverware, no matter how good a sporting director they hire
06.08.2025 08:35 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I don't think it lets the owners off the hook. They could and should be doing better.
But how many years of flawless operation from top to bottom would allow nufc to compete on an even footing with the top EPL sides?
Plenty of whom have had their own boardroom issues in the last few years
The sponsorship rules were brought in to stifle their progress after they bought the club. It was also only after the purchase that the punishments for psr breaches became more serious.
And even ignoring that, surely the bigger story is the impossibility for anyone to consistently challenge the top6
Excellent summary of the failings in Nufc leadership, but psr is more than a convenient excuse.
What is Newcastle's ceiling under psr if they are operated flawlessly?
And why should psr be dismissed based on other failings, plenty of big 6 teams have made the same (worse) errors at executive level?
This is football's equivalent of telling young people that if they didn't drink so many lattes they could buy a house.
You cannot just dismiss PSR in a paragraph.
This idea that #nufc could challenge the cartel without being allowed to invest in the team is ridiculous.
Another article that talks about boardroom stability and city location as the only reason for our recruitment issues. Completely ignoring the huge spending capacity gap we are trying to overcome.
If players were concerned about boardroom and staffing issues, Man U would never sign another payer
yeah, plus no Italian team could possibly afford him

05.08.2025 22:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I will say this though.
Man U are playing this game on easy mode.
Their transfer spending and wage bill should be setting them up for an absolute stroll into the champions league places next season.
It'll be quite funny watching them find a way to fail spectacularly.
If Nufc really did want to be #1 fast, their best chance isn't through great scouting, coaching and player development, it's through creative accounting, dodgy commercial deals and lawsuits. sad but true.
I know the status quo isn't an accident, but it is surprising how little most teams care.
The question the press should be asking is:
"If you believe it's possible for an other 14 club to close the gap to the top 6. How many consecutive seasons of overperforming on the pitch should it take?"
Because Villa and NUFC have done it 3 years in a row and are nowhere near closing the revenue gap
The pictures being chosen for the posts are ridiculous. Every Man U related sesko pic one is some crazy celebration.
When he reported on the nufc bidd, the picture of Sesko looked like he just watched a dog get hit by a car:

05.08.2025 20:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think Brighton has done alright in the window (bookies don't seem to agree), so could be a champions league (5th place) contender.
Another reason why I like the idea of trying to pry their pots, Van Hecke, our way, even if we have to overpay a little
Despite the expectation that we'll sell Isak and wont get Sesko, we are still 5th favourites to finish in the top 4 with the bookies.
I think this is why, spurs and man u have too much to fix, and everyone outside the top 6 seems to be losing more talent than they're able to pick up
