I don't even think that's a woke opinion. that's what the mayor of Paris and Barcelona ran on 13+ years ago.

I really really hope so but I never heard her emphasize this in any way. We can only hope this is an output of her general vision, but it's not been a centerpiece. It's been about housing. So I am very curious if my bet this year on visionary and spiritual alignment pays off. It didn't with McGinn

Congratulations this is wonderful news, the nimbyโ€™s are out, this city has a future, I will celebrate with an IPA, not from Fremont brewing.

Could this be the 3-D Chess move? RE-open the government as it would force this vote while people can travel during Thanksgiving and not bitch about the closed government, see this and the republican vote in Dec to refuse ACA subsidies and show the true faces?

It's embarrassing that it's this close, but I knew this would happen! A year ago I sent a mail to Bruce asking him to do the right thing in the comp plan because he will get voted out anyway. Glad to see that is now happening.

I think this was their plan to make up for the short comings of the comp plan that was all about giving in to nimby's. Just think of the great walkability on 1st or 4th ave that would have been. So for me, good this failed. For the wrong reasons, but the right outcome.

I want Katie Wilson to win as quickly and expeditiously as possible, but I also want Bruce Harrell to lose as slowly and painfully as possible

I remember when SDOT proudly posted the improvements on 24th Ave - a couple of flex posts on a few intersections. A total joke of an outcome for 6 years and 6mm dollars.

This is the primary reason I plan to leave the US. In my lifetime, they will only build ugly, dark, smelly new. And they can only build it along busy noisy smelly corridors. generations of ghettoisation.

The next step up is SFH for people and that barrier will become more and more insurmountable.

I would make a bet for how that would go if it's Katie

Ok this is sooo much cooler than I ever expected. Very charming and approachable I can't imagine Katie losing the next electon.

Cities everywhere need to do a better job providing places to sit.

In my niece's school in Munich - in the mid 2000's - it was and still is illegal to drive within two blocks of schools during the school rush hours

Op-Ed: Why Seattleโ€™s Housing Future Depends on You ยป The Urbanist # The Urbanist and Tech4Housing are hosting a rally and mega-canvass Sunday in Columbia City for Seattle City Council candidates Alexis Mercedes Rinck, Dionne Foster, and Eddie Lin, City Attorney cand...

In NE Seattle, Rivera won by 235 votes, causing the council to swing NIMBY, causing housing to be delayed in Seattle and could cost us in WA, because of lack of new residents, an electoral vote in the next election. Remind me again why voting doesn't matter.

Well she is on her way out, she knows it, so she is voting her "conscience" which is to hope to land a spot on some board of directors for some conservative business.

I am confused why we call it devastating effect. I would call this "the anticipated, demanded, celebrated, worthwhile effect".

this is what was understood, explained, and weighed by those now impacted. it's exactly what they hoped for.

15.09.2025 17:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

the sad thing is this is the truth. Th even sadder thing is that the rest of America looks up to Seattle, when in actuality it's a pretty sad place to be outside of a car.

13.09.2025 20:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

clearly, we need to build more car housing so the cars can keep up, add more lanes for them to move, and... well you know the game.
