May have said this before but when my kid was a toddler I convinced her friend we couldn't watch Caillou because my wife was allergic to it.

Gah, these things stress me out. Mostly post about baseball (#GOMS), rugby (#allezlesbleus #oToulouse), being a dad, & why we shouldn't be sh***y to marginalized people.

15.02.2026 16:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0About halfway through Pete's run I looked up the team's total franchise record on pro football reference. I wasn't surprised to see they were still a losing team overall. 1984-2005 were tough years and it was tough to see the Hawks as anything other than a losing franchise.
Now we're at 416-376-1.
Age verification? My first modem was 2400 baud.
10.02.2026 23:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Optimism heading into ST is a weird feeling. Leaving one spot open for one of the kids to try to claim is so much better than leaving 2 open and hoping for the best.
03.02.2026 16:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If he stays healthy I think he'll probably split the difference between 2024 and 2025. If he does that for 2 years and then ages semi-gracefully through 33 or so I think that's a guy with a pretty compelling HOF case.
12.01.2026 17:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, I saw. He got started late for sure, but it's going to be a lot easier for him to rack up more value moving forward than Yordan, who's only 6 months younger and who needs to be one of the best hitters alive to rack up real value.
12.01.2026 17:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Surprised not to see Raleigh on here. Even accepting he's not likely to repeat 2025, 3 more years like 2024 will have him at 250 HR and pushing 40 (f)WAR through age 31.
12.01.2026 17:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Seriously considering an edit to the "critical reception" section along the lines of: "Baseball analyst Christopher Crawford described it as a "nonsense song" and dismissed suggestions of deeper meaning and complexity as "pretentious bull crap." But I probably won't.
07.01.2026 16:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This isn't my proudest moment, but I interpreted this as you saying there was a reference *to you* in the Wiki page for Feeling This and I looked for it for longer than I care to disclose publicly before figuring it out.
07.01.2026 16:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Normalize wealthy septuagenarians realizing they've had a good run and accepting that it's ok to move on. In sports, politics, and everything else.
05.01.2026 16:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They're in perpetual rebuild mode. Likely because once they got there a few years back, they realized it's a pretty sweet place to be, financially.
This would've been reasonable in 2021. In 2026, when you've got the chance to improve a team that came one swing/pitch from a WS, it's a major bummer.
After solving in 4 Iβm very curious as to why. Feel free to DM if you canβt answer without spoilers.

The best-case βrealisticβ offseason is probably re-sign Naylor, trade for an average-ish RF whoβs not so good you canβt bench him if healthy 2026 Robles is good, a bullpen grab bag, and a lot of platitudes about waiting for the young guys to develop.
21.10.2025 04:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maybe, though the team just made a chunk of change from the playoff pool. $39m comes off the books between the Mitches, Solano, and DMo (and another $7m from Polanco but thatβs a real loss).
Bigger issue is FAβs basically Naylor/Bichette or bust and we all know theyβre not getting Bichette.
TBH I think thereβs a hole at 2B/SS too. JP should probably move to 2B and the 2B who played this year, though young, arenβt very good (yet).
21.10.2025 03:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs gonna be a tough offseason too. Holes at 1B, 3B, and RF, probably shouldnβt re-sign Geno and bringing Naylor back wonβt be cheap. Need a real bullpen upgrade and could use at least 1 more starter.
21.10.2025 03:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Not to be all zen or anything but this season was a gift. Now letβs improve the manager, lengthen the bullpen, and sign Bichette so JP can play his last year with the team at 2B where he belongs and our bad 2Bs can learn to be not bad in AAA.
21.10.2025 03:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ok the job is hard but that call isnβt hard.
21.10.2025 02:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Highest leverage moment in franchise history calls for the best reliever. This isnβt hard.
21.10.2025 02:35 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Seriously. We deserve better.
21.10.2025 02:34 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Seattle and Toronto should switch ballparks.
Not cities, mind you. Just deconstruct each ballpark and move them. Itβs a win-win.
I want to see a vintage 88mph Randy Johnson slider.
14.10.2025 23:31 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What was that, 9 straight fastballs to start? Does Wilson think this is 2006 Felix Hernandez?
14.10.2025 00:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ok, Iβm reconsidering my stance here.
14.10.2025 00:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0JFC Wilson must really not trust Hancock at all.
13.10.2025 23:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Maybe, but Iβm still hoping we see Hancock at some point. Heβs good in relief and it would help keep other arms fresh. A 4-run lead seems like a good time.
