Rachel Bean, still sick

We’ve received some support mostly where I’ve been posting on IG but I also received $40 from M whom I believe I’m connected to on here, thank you! 🌻

I think we’ve received about $350 toward Iris’s care so far.

Well we made some bland food for her (boiled rice and chicken) and she excitedly ate that!! I have a little relief, whew.

She won’t eat her kibble, the wet version of her kibble, or the hills science food the vet gave her and she hasn’t been drinking any water either.

I signed up for a care credit card- something I couldn’t get approved for when our old lady Sadie was declining a couple years ago- but do you know those cards have like a 33% APR?!

So her regular vet can’t get her in til Mon and I’m just here helplessly watching out bright little girl slowly dim.

It’s devastating to not be able to care for someone you care so much for and it feels like you’re a failure for being disabled/poor.

But also if this is just her natural aging/decline/dying process, I want to be able to afford to make her so comfortable.

I’m just really really scared.

I know nobody sees my posts here because I’m not on here much but I’m so scared in my body that I just needed to express it somewhere.

We’ve had her for almost 9 years of her 11+ years and I really wanted her to live in this country house with us. My husband has HER name tattooed over his eyebrow.

She used to have a big personality and talked a lot and was very expressive and now she is subdued and quiet and bordering on lethargic. She’s refusing all kinds of dog food and water (still will eat my cheez its though) but still enjoys walks.

I really am not ready for this to be the sunset.

I’m going through rolling waves of panic and tears and fear and I’m so scared that we’re losing her and that we can’t provide her maximum comfort if this is her twilight.

I applied for a care credit card with an egregious APR but her regular vet can’t get her in until Monday.

I’m so stressed.

My best girl Iris went to the emergency vet last weekend but has not bounced back at all and is still very much not herself. She’s not eating much, very subdued, and not vocalizing like she usually does. I’m very worried. She needs to go back to the vet and I need help to do that for her:

Hi all. I’m at the emergency vet with my old girl Iris this morning and I know that’s going to cost me at least half my SSDI check that just came Friday no matter what the issue is.

Finally seen by the vet and have a rough cost estimate.

Exam: $280
Blood work: $400
Fluids: $400 plus an anti-nausea med or possible antibiotics.

Looking at the neighborhood of $1000-1200 for this visit which is over 50% of my monthly income.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🌻

Total cost was $928 which was slightly less than I was expecting but still means I will not be able to pay my bills this month.
