Last year a whistleblower said DOGE had illegally accessed a Social Security database. SSA now acknowledges it's trueโ€”& that DOGE employees had secret agreement w/ unidentified political advocacy group to use SocSec data to help overturn election results. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

โ€œTheyโ€™re sick of giant corporations, algorithmic playlists, and AI slop. Artists are tired of platforms that pay them virtually nothing, by degenerate billionaires that see all human creativity as interchangeable aesthetic wallpaper, valued only for its ability to make numbers go up.โ€

Blue states should come together to declare an emergency. Hereโ€™s how | Thomas Geoghegan States opposed to Trump can create a compact โ€“ a new prototype for American government โ€“ even if itโ€™s perceived as political theater

This is a very smart idea that I hope @governorferguson.bsky.social is examining closely.

SCOOP โ€” Part of the reason Disney/ABC may have rushed to sort things out with Kimmel is because tomorrow they have a planned price increase for Disney+ streaming, a Disney source tells me. With subscriptions hemorrhaging since last week, they couldnโ€™t risk losing more users with this announcement.

The reason why the FP sold for so much โ€” relative to its small output โ€” is because it has a world view that is embraced by a readership of very wealthy people. Weiss isn't anti-establishment. She comforts the comfortable.

I think itโ€™s worth noting this piece generated the most unsubscribes Iโ€™ve seen in a while, and the newsletter version had the lowest open rate in many months. These horrors persist in part because too many people go to great pains to avoid them.

Without immediate intervention, the last reporters in Gaza will die
July 21, 2025

AFP has been working with 1 writer, 3 photographers and 6 videographers, all freelance, in the Gaza Strip since its staff journalists left in 2024.

Along with a few others, they are now the only ones left to report what is happening in the Gaza Strip. The international press has been banned from entering the territory for nearly two years.

We refuse to watch them die.

One of them, Bashar, has been working with AFP since 2010, first as a fixer, then freelance photographer, and since 2024, as lead photographer. On July 19th he managed to post a message on Facebook: โ€œI no longer have the strength to work for the media. My body is thin and I canโ€™t work anymore.โ€

Bashar, 30, works & lives in the same conditions as all Gazans, moving from one refugee camp to another under Israeli bombings. For > a year heโ€™s lived in utter destitution, working at extreme risk to his life. Hygiene is a major issue for him, with recurring bouts of severe intestinal illness.

Since Feb, Basharโ€™s been living in the ruins of his home in Gaza City with his mother, 4 brothers & sisters and the family of one of his brothers. Their house is devoid of any furnishings, except a few cushions. On Sunday morning, he reported that one of his brothers had โ€œfallen, due to hunger.โ€

Even though these journalists receive a monthly salary from AFP, itโ€™s no longer enough to buy food, or they have to pay completely exorbitant prices. The banking system has collapsed, and those who exchange money via online bank accounts charge a commission of up to 40%.

AFP no longer has the ability to provide them with a vehicle and there is not enough fuel to allow these journalists to travel for their reporting. Driving a car means becoming a target for Israeli airstrikes. AFP reporters therefore travel on foot or by donkey cart. (alt txt continued in next post)

Today, Joe Rogan said: โ€œDid you see the WaPo piece? They found that weโ€™re in a cooling periodโ€ฆa very โ€˜inconvenientโ€™ discovery, but they had to report the dataโ€”and kudos to them for doing that.โ€

I'd love to know how WaPo found that cooling period and, even more importantly, where they hid it.

Max Boot supported the Iraq invasion in 2003, and anyone who promoted that should not be part of the public discourse on entering a war now with Iran.

The cruelty in today's politics feels horribly corrosive. Bringing up that hard-working immigrant families โ€”ย undocumented, yes, but not violent criminals โ€”ย are being ripped apart based on immigration status doesn't bring compassion or even pause, but gleeful cheers.

This is extremely significant. Former ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Prime Minister Ehud Olmert (2006-9) wrote in a May 22 Haaretz op-ed that Israel is:

๐Ÿ”ด intentionally waging a war of annihilation
๐Ÿ”ด premeditatedly adopting a policy of starvation
๐Ÿ”ด massacring civilians
๐Ÿ”ด making declarations of genocide

Thatโ€™s a low bar. If Booker does something stupid we can yell at him. Heโ€™ll keep doing it if we donโ€™t. (PS: tell him to stay off the AIPAC crack! Itโ€™ll rot your brain and your vote!)

Confirming this guy for Ambassador is basically implementing Project 2025. Booker talks, but when itโ€™s time to use the power he actually has he takes the wrong side. NJ can find someone better.
