Had my doubts but Platonic S2 is so much better than S1 so far, and I liked S1!

Sure, future movies may show him deciding that other aspects of his Kryptonian heritage do mean something to him, but this movie does stand on its own for now, and it has something to say.

It gets worse because of the final scene. Immigrants are always told to assimilate and it's such a struggle to hold on to their roots, but the movie used the fortress scene to celebrate Clark cutting himself off from that side of him and embracing his Kansas heritage as his only one.

I don't think it's that relevant what Kryptonians broadly are like. The people were shouting "you were sent here to rule us" and instead of the movie going "no he's a refugee, here in the hope of a good life", it went "yeah he was but thankfully he was raised here, we dodged that bullet".

I do agree that the killing critiques are minor, but I do think there are major criticisms to be made too. To me, it completely botched the immigrant allegory by emphasising that the xenophobic fears are only wrong because he was raised by Americans, otherwise the aliens *did* mean to invade Earth.

Just read the Teen Titans Annual, and I hate it when great works of art come from Zionists.

We know very little about Gunn's plans for Wonder Woman, but I won't be able to get excited till I know he's drawing on some good influences. Superman suffered from its Byrne inspiration, as Supergirl definitely will from King, both of whom have also written for Diana. I hope Pérez/Rucka wins out.

Batman may be directed by Andy Muschietti, who sucks, but even if it isn't, I'm not terribly interested in a Bruce so much older than Clark. If you really wanted to adapt Morrison, you could've gone with stories like Gothic and Arkham Asylum for now, saving Batman and Son for Chapter Two.

Creature Commandos didn't have a great first season, and I see no reason to believe S2 will be any better.

Supergirl adapts a Tom King story, Lanterns is produced by King, and Mister Miracle is both.

Clayface is being helmed by the guy who Hollywoodized Speak No Evil.

Superman wasn't bad, but it was disappointing. And cutting Clark off from his Kryptonian ties has made him a less interesting character going forward too, reducing my interest in the Gunn-penned sort-of-sequel.

Peacemaker S2 is a multiverse story, something I'm tired of.

I'm very excited about where DC Comics is right now. Not just the Absolute universe, which is firing on all cylinders, but also the upcoming Batman, Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum, and Red Hood.

But I'm not excited for the DCU. It's definitely looking better than the MCU, but that's a low bar.
