A lot of these folks are in politics specifically because they can't cope with their fear of death. They see being an "intellectual" whose words outlive them as a form of eternal life, and the possibility that their words would actually be resolutely mocked post-death is too horrifying to believe.

It'll actually be really interesting to try both modes and compare the two. I wonder what kind of data would help us get to the most accurate conclusions about the two approaches and their impact on the meta games
