They don’t think that. They’re just flat-out lying because they know their base will believe them and too many in the media won’t fact check them.

My husband carries a small Swiss Army knife, and it’s often handy to have, and I don’t think it’s ever occurred to either of us that it would be a thing for self-defense. But it’s surprising how often a tiny screw driver is useful.

I get so many of these types following, I don’t even look anymore, much less follow back. If someone follows me and I can see we’ve interacted, I’ll check out the account and probably follow back, but most I just ignore.
