Like our streets, our sidewalks are a public resourceβand our city policies should treat that them way when it comes to snow clearance
forms.gle/f8sKCq5RdjLz...
This means that parts of sidewalks are cleared well and other parts on the same block can be an icy mess, which is especially hard for residents with disabilities or strollers.
Cambridge is one of the best walking cities in the country but only if our sidewalks are clear
When it snows, the City government is responsible for clearing roads throughout Cambridge.
But snow on sidewalks is currently the responsibility of thousands of different property owners
Since the snowstorm last week, we've been sharing info about sidewalk snow clearance
β and a call to action for more municipal sidewalk snow removal!

Hot take: Community-led governance isnβt scary. Itβs actually two RFS alumni on the Cambridge City Council fighting like hell for affordable housing. @votejivan.bsky.social and Ayah Al-Zub are proving that governing with values is very much a thing. Your move. Run for office.

06.01.2026 01:25 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Grateful to get to serve another term on the Cambridge City Council and for the family & friends who joined to celebrate Inauguration Day today!
And thankful for everyone who made who made this possible by door knocking, phonebanking, donating, postcard writing, and more. Thank you.
Theyβre no longer automatically the head but still a voting member of the School Committee
05.01.2026 00:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And as of 24 hours before Inauguration Day, itβs unclear who the next mayor will be because no City Councillor has the 5 votes they need.
Itβs time we let more Cambridge residents than just the nine of us on City Council choose who fills this important role for our city government and schools
In Cambridge, the mayor chooses all City Council committee assignments.
Theyβre the voice of Cambridge in the media & at public events.
Andβmost importantlyβthe Mayor serves as a voting member of the School Committee.
But currently, only nine City Councillors get a vote on who the mayor is
Some personal news:
Iβm not asking for your vote to be Cambridgeβs next Mayor.Β
Hereβs the problem though β no one is.
Itβs time we changed that.
You can add your name to the petition to allow Cambridge voters to elect their Mayor and be part of the effort
