I have ended up adapting this passage to use a few more words my students already know, and written an extension assignment to translate into Latin a happier alternative ending for queen Dido in which she is delighted to get rid of Aeneas and sails off to be a pirate. Had to get pirates in somehow 😄

Yeah, we don't have huge amounts to give (could never fund a project!) so small grants lets us at least help with v specific "I need to pay conference fees/image publication costs/childcare while I attend an event/etc" type needs (list definitely not exhaustive!)

(You have to be a WCC member but if you aren't already you can still apply and we just take the membership fee out of the grant. Which for students/un- and under-employed researchers is only £5)

This is *extremely* small, but people working in ancient history (broadly conceived, and not just classical) would be eligible for the Women's Classical Committee's small grants scheme (up to £150).

Search LibGen, the Pirated-Books Database That Meta Used to Train AI Millions of books and scientific papers are captured in the collection’s current iteration.

One of the pirated material sources Anthropic AI trained on is LibGen, the other database is PiLiMi (can't found a search for). So, if you're an author, submiting your info to the lawyers (prev tweet) is the best way to kill genAI like Anthropic.
